My Second New Years!

I was in bed way before the ball dropped.  I can wake-up at midnight but I'm not ready to stay-up that late . . . yet.

Pretty exciting year.  I had a Birthday, ate solid food and walked!  What a year for a little guy.  I'm running around the house and tearing it up.  To think last New Years Eve I was just a little blob on the couch.  Well, those days are done.
What should my New Years Resolution be?  Thankfully, I'm not having trouble losing weight lately . . . seems like I should think of some sort of self-improvement though.

Oh well, I think life is going to throw quite a bit at me anyway in the New Year already.

Happy New Year!

Mexican Food is More Fun With Friends!

We went to Rosita's tonight.  Thankfully I didn't have to try and make new friends at other tables.  Tonight they brought Ben along!

Ben is a lot more relaxed than me.  I do my best to try and rile him up though.  I am bound and determined to be a subversive influence in his life until he is as rambunctious as me.
Unfortunately, all my acting out totally worked me up.  I think I required nearly two bottles as a night cap before I eventually fell asleep.

Phew.  I'm going to sleep like a log tonight.

Distractions

Thank God for boxes that talk to me.

I was a very unhappy baby tonight.  The dreaded rashes appeared again and I was inconsolable.  I know the combination of cream and benadryl are best for me but I can't help writhing around when Daddy is trying implement.

Thankfully, instead of using brute force he used the Speaking Box!

It didn't cure me . . . but it took my mind off the whole horrible situation for awhile.

So thankful for the placebo.

The Security of Chica

Mommy and Daddy sure know how to keep me excited into the night.  Not only did I get to see the Seattle Children's Museum today, when my parents got home I was fed Lo Mein from China Village.

Nothing like being gradually fed noodles to get a a little guy all worked-up before bed.

So when Daddy eventually did put me to bed I wailed like a banshee!

Thank God I have a real Chica to snuggle with.  Instantly I am transported to the Sunny Side Up Show where all the world is in harmony.
Still kind of annoyed Daddy hasn't moved the family to a barn with anthropomorphic animals already!

Drinking With Papo

We unwrapped a few more presents.  Papo and Lulu got me even more toys!  Of course they needed some presents also.

Unfortunately Papo pretty much already has everything he needs.  What do you get a guy who has everything?  Apparently it was bottles.

For the record he wasn't actually drinking right from the bottle but I don't think it would have been a problem if he was . . . I do it.
Apparently adults really think highly of their bottles.  It is considered bad form to just chug directly from the bottle and they only fill half glasses from them.

They also have strange habits of displaying them.  I could not picture lining-up unfinished milk bottles on a shelf.

Does milk have a "Bourbon" flavor?  I'm curious.

Dreaming by the Fire!

Quite a bit of fun tonight!  Daddy made a fire.  With his present of a lot of wood for Christmas he couldn't resist.

As usual I am fascinated by this innovation.  I tried to play in it but as usual Daddy denied me.
I had to be content to play with my Pirate Ship that I got for Christmas.
Nothing like a roaring fire to help a little guy fantasize about his aspirations to eventually plunder ships.
As I pushed my ship I dreamed of sailing into the sunset after a day of raiding a coastal town in the Caribbean.

Rrrrrrr!

Christmas!

Well, all the anticipation is over now.  Presents!  Nothing like waking-up and discovering Santa had arrived!

He had been busy also!  All the presents that had disappeared suddenly reappeared.

Unfortunately getting into those things was still a bit of a challenge.  Stocking and presents required a certain amount of dexterity that I haven't mastered yet.

I wanted to get into them so much I eventually reverted to my teeth.  I mean, once I discovered what exciting things were in these packages I wasn't going to be held back!
Turns out wrapping paper smears but who cares.  Certainly not Jaxon!  I have new toys I need play with!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve!

What an exciting day. Tomorrow is Christmas!  I was so excited that I ran around the house all day begging Daddy to let me stay awake and meet Santa Claus.  Granted, when I met him earlier I was a little upset but I have been reassured that he is perfectly safe and also brings loads of presents.

I made sure not to yell that loudly though.  "Key" my Elf on a Shelf was still watching me diligently.  I tried playing nice with this guy but I do admit throwing him on the floor a few times in fits of emotion.
I was especially nice to him today though.  His final report to Santa should be good.

A Christmas Carol

We went to visit Betsy tonight for Christmas carols.  Even though my little nose was running like a waterfall I still dressed in my dapper little coat and had fun!

Nothing like being the only little baby surrounded by a bunch of singing adults!

So much fun.  Eventually I was so excited when Betsy was playing on her own that I came over and we did a duet.
Of course around 7:30 the wheels started coming off.  Hey, you can only be at a party for so long especially if you are a little baby like myself.

I did leave the party crying but that just shows I had a fun time!

Wrapping Presents

Trying to understand this whole concept of presents.  I opened a few during my life but tonight made no sense.

Aunt 'Brina came over and helped Mommy wrap them.  Of course I was totally disallowed for participating.  Instead I was dispatched to Fournos with Daddy to get a pizza.

All of a sudden the tree had wrapped presents in all shapes and sizes under it.
But almost as soon as they appeared they magically disappeared.

Apparently Mommy discussed with Santa and decided that I was just a little to curious to have them under the tree.

I was a little upset but was told Santa would bring them back on Christmas.

Grown-ups and their strange explanations.  I can't wait to hear them explain where I came from someday.

My Anniversary Blog

A year ago today I wrote my FIRST blog post.  I told Daddy I would "Not be pacified!"  Well that pacifier is a thing of the past now.

The stockings are up again.  God!  I can't believe there was a time Daddy had to lift me up to reach my stocking.  Now I just pull them down on my own.
Hard to believe Wheedle was almost as big as me a year ago.  I remember my parents would dump me on the couch like I was a little sack of potatoes.  Sadly, I had about as much body strength as said sack of potatoes.

But what a difference a year makes!

In just one year I have started eating solid food, walked, watch adults stay in line for hours to get piece of electronic equipment, seen a live elephant, seen a stuffed gorilla, taken my first step, had an Easter, Halloween and Christmas, been on a plane, walked in the surf and have kissed a girl!

Am I going to have this many "Firsts"every year?!?!

Still getting a feel for this world but I'm happy to keep a record!

Asserting Boundaries

Yeah Mommy and Daddy I love you both . . . just don't cramp my style.  After all, I'm growing-up.  Boundaries.  I want my space!

Sometimes I just don't want to be held back.  Dr. Tom even told Mommy today that it was just part of me asserting my independence.  After that I figured I was green lighted to assert some of that independence today.

Just let me play with my fire truck, until I slip of course.

After that . . . SAVE ME DADDY!

Hey, I enjoyed being an independent guy for five minutes.

Time to snuggle for the rest of the night.

Reverting to my Primal Side

Yeah, yeah I know I'm growing-up and am supposed to be acting more like a human but some old habits are hard to break.

After all, as a baby I am probably as close to a little Beast as I will ever be!

Grrr!

I didn't eat lunch . . . I inhaled it.

But when Mommy put the claws on me I truly reverted to my Primal element.

After that I got busy growling and attacking the Christmas Tree and the furniture.  My coup de grace was turning the oven off and stopping dinner.

Someday I will truly be a little human boy . . . just not yet!

Rudolph the Red Nosed Jaxon

I am still learning about the Santa concept.  Turns out the guy gets around on a sleigh led by Reindeer.

The lead Reindeer is Rudolph.  He is a actually a bit younger and smaller than the average Reindeer in Santa's entourage.

Hey no reason why I shouldn't audition.  I would love to lead Santa's sleigh on Christmas!  After all I can lead Mommy and Daddy around the house all day.

Hey, it could be me, give me a shot Santa.
I think I have some potential here.

I Love Coffee

Granted, I've never tried the stuff but the way Daddy laps it up I want to try it!

All of a sudden I was only a few inches away from one of his cups so I made my move.

It didn't work out the way I expected.  All I wanted was a little sip!

The stuff just looks so warm and comforting.  I don't understand why he won't share a little.
Thankfully Daddy wasn't so strung-out on caffeine that he was angry.  Nothing the washing machine will not take care of.

I will get my first taste of coffee soon though.  So close today!

Uncle Mark!

I had a visitor tonight.  My Daddy's little brother Uncle Mark came to the house!

What a treat!  All sorts of attention was given to ME!  Uncle Mark fed me and told about when he and Daddy were little boys.

But all of a sudden . . . he disappeared!  I wailed hysterically.  How could he just disappear like that.

Phew!  Turns he was just downstairs updating Daddy's computer!

Nice to have Aunts and Uncles in your life.  They tend to be far more accepting of you throwing food on the floor.

"Key" my Elf on a Shelf

I really enjoy my "Elf on a Shelf".   I was asked what his name should be and my answer was "Key"!

His normal place to watch me is from the tree but when I learned that his job was to take notes for Santa about whether I am naughty or nice I got into action.
This Elf needs a true charm offensive.  Especially if he is reporting back to the Big Guy.  No more chewing on him or throwing him on the floor.

I even took Key for a ride in Matar.

Can't risk coal in the stocking or even not maximizing my gift intake.

Goodbye Al : (

Sadly I learned of a passing of a dear friend.  He gave me and my friends endless hours of entertainment at the Seattle Aquarium. Al the Northern Fur Seal (1993-2011) is no more.

He was humanely "Euthanized".  I sure hope they don't do that to humans when they get sick.

He wasn't born in a hospital like me.  Instead he was separated from his Mommy after he got disoriented from the ocean and ended up in a cow pasture near Hoquiam where he was rescued.  Imagine if that was was my story!

Apparently he was named after the Vice President at the time.

                                                                             Al
                                                                             and
                                                                             Al
Maybe there is a little similarity.  You be the judge.

I will miss you Al.  You gave us a lot of entertainment.  Sad to see you go.

Not sure if I care for this whole "Death" concept.
