Router:1 Daddy:0

For all my fans who might wonder where I was for the last 48 hours- it wasn't that I didn't have a desire to blog, I just couldn't.

We had an internet issue at the house.  Not to worry though, Daddy was there to "Save the Day" with a customer service number, a cell phone and an iron will.

Sadly Daddy met his match, the Apple Airport Extreme Router!

I give him a hard time but I really did miss the bed time story last night though I was impressed with Daddy's determination.

He went through the help desks at multiple tech supports, I got to see him go from annoyed, to angry to defeated.  He got to talk to people in Everett, San Francisco and India- such an exciting mix of people and cultures.
I didn't know how much drama could be created seeing Daddy talk to customer service, it was quite an eye opener.
Well, by the end of the night nothing had been solved and Daddy went to bed a broken man.

The next day Papo dropped by, flipped a switch and it was instantly fixed.

Taking Care of Daddy

Daddy had a stressful day at work today and when we came home he learned that Harold Ramis, his favorite director who made all his favorite movies from his childhood had passed.
Daddy was pouting around the house- He would never see another movie as good as Animal House, Ghostbusters or Groundhog Day.
There we go.  Every once in awhile Daddy needs a little comforting too.  Snuggles aren't always just for Toddlers.

Motivation

I have developed a new passion for keeping my teeth clean.  After all, oral hygiene is lifelong process.

Yeah right, I have other motivations . . . Toothpaste!

Just another right of passage for a boy, hey, it can't be that bad for you if it cleans your teeth.

I Want A Dinosaur!

I have now watched "Bizarre Dinosaurs" approximately twenty times.  Unlike "Cars" which has actually been stretched out over years I have been able to squeeze this into a few weeks from when we first recorded it on DVR.

Well, it is time I stop just watching this stuff on TV and go a bit more hardcore.  It is time I take a Dinosaur home.  Alright, I know, it was quite a few million years ago that one of these things even was alive but I figure when negotiating with my parents you need to ask for something huge so that you get the best deal when you meet in the middle.

So yeah, barring a Jurassic Park style innovation I won't be taking a Dinosaur home BUT I would be happy with some alternatives.

Let the Negotiations Begin!

Paging Pachycephalosaurus!

For better or for worse Mommy recorded "Bizarre Dinosaurs".  I have now requested to watch it more times than "Cars" and it now has a permanent place on our DVR.  I always liked Dinosaurs but now I know about some of the CONTROVERSIES!  Paleontologists argue whether Tyrannosaurus Rex had small arms to scratch their mates more delicately or were the plates on top of a Stegosaurus actually used for catching heat from the Sun????

Quite a lot of questions to have ROARING debates over on the sofa.

Another great question was "Did Pachycephalosaurus uses its thick skull to battle over mates the way Rams do?"
I was very curious about this so I decided to see what head-butting is like.  I'm a bit smarter than a Pachycephalosaurus so I didn't butt Daddy when he expected it and of course I didn't aim for the thicker part of his head but more for the most vulnerable part of his head (The intersection on his face between his eyes).  Direct Hit!
Yeah, that got me in a bit of trouble but nature can be tough.  Consider that next time you get into a roaring match with ME!

Another Life Milestone

A Man has certain milestones as he passes through life.  He is born, graduates from school, kisses his first girl, has his first job, falls in love, gets married and has his own child.

But let us not forget the day he turns to his Father and says, "Daddy, me wear belt today!"

Yep, that was one small buckle for me today but it was a huge leap for my development into Manhood.

Daddy the Dude!

Daddy didn't come upstairs with Mommy tonight.  Was he being naughty?  Was he out visiting his friends drinking BEER?  Or Bowling???
Daddy isn't as soft and smooth as Mommy, he is actually quite hard and prickly but I still like him on the other side of the bed.

Turns out Daddy has something that seems to take precedent over going to bed with his family . . . "The Big Lebowski" on TV.

Daddy didn't intend to stay up way past his bedtime but it turns out he just had to stay tuned for his favorite scene which was every scene.

I guess Daddy doesn't have the strength of will that I thought he did.  Oh well, everyone has an Achilles Heel, there are somethings Daddy just can't control.
Daddy rationalized it to Mommy that he was paying his final respects to Philip Seymour Hoffman, an actor who I unfortunately will not get to appreciate.

Showing Mr. Bacon How Good He Really Has It

Mr. Bacon was acting a bit spoiled today.  He had been squealing all day about how tough it is to be one of my toys so I decided to show him how real pigs live.
Nothing like the play "The Three Little Pigs" to drive a point home.
I was riveted with anticipation.  I just hoped it wouldn't be too intense for Mr. Bacon.  I didn't want to emotionally scar him just teach him a lesson.
The life of a Pig in the real world is tough.  You continually are in the process of building sturdier and sturdier houses to protect yourself from wolves trying to blow them down and eat you.
Thankfully for Mr. Bacon this was a fairly tame version.  Instead of being weeded out by natural selection as in other versions all the pigs escape to the brick house and the wolf isn't boiled alive.

Still, I think I got the point across.

After the production I took Mr. Bacon to lunch to discuss the lessons we had learned.  Out of respect I ordered the Turkey instead of the Ham and Cheese.

First Snow Day of the Year!

It started snowing last night but Daddy, who had just started a fire and gotten into his cozy pants, was in no mood to take me out.  Doesn't matter, I just made sure Mommy and Daddy were up bright and early.
Yep, nothing puts a smile on a Toddlers face like SNOW!  Especially when I had a new sled to break-in.
Only one thing was missing and I couldn't put my finger on it . . . until the answer showed-up with her Mommy.  Hello Monica!

What is the point of snow if there is no one to have a snowball fight with or share a sled ride!

Gotta maximize my snow time, you don't see much of it in Seattle before it turns to slush.

My Olympic Dream!

Let the Sochi Games Begin!

I got to catch a little bit of the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Sochi tonight.  This was one of my first experiences with Russia and the Olympics and I came away with two distinct impressions.

First, I can't wait to start skiing, snowboarding and of course bobsledding!  It just looks like way, way too much fun!

Secondly, I really was born at the wrong time.  I think with my strong personality I should have been born a Tsar!
I'm all about Absolute Power and Winter Palaces (Thinking about my Island Cabin)!

I accept that the last Tsar disappeared in 1917 somewhat unceremoniously but that doesn't mean I couldn't aspire to be the 21st Century equivalent.
Power does have its advantages.  Especially when deciding who gets to light the Torch!

Looking forward to some exciting competition!

Sent To My Room!

Well you knew it was finally going to happen with all my energy . . . I got sent to my room!

I don't know what the exact point was.  It wasn't really punishment- it was just unsupervised fun, really.

Talk about giving me a chance burn my little battery out.  Yipes, I have never just crashed like that.  I guess there is a first for everything.

Intense!

Atlas Shrugged

I was pretty excited about the prospect of watching the Seahawks victory parade today but Auntie knew better.  Had we gone downtown I would have been cold and cranky.  In her infinite wisdom Auntie took me north to meet Atlas.

Oh my, I didn't know I was going to meet a new friend today.  It was quite exciting.  After a little bit of time with Atlas I had completely shrugged off not being stuck downtown in the freezing cold trying to glimpse a Seahawk from afar.

Daddy seemed kind of excited too.  He loves the concept of having dogs in my life without having to take any responsibility for them.

Seahawks Win The Super Bowl!

So exciting.  The Seahawks just won the Super Bowl!!!!!

And guess what.  I don't care!  Daddy was my age when the Sonics got a championship also in 1979 and guess what, he had zero comprehension of what was going on either!
This is a Toddler Blog- there is very little we can appreciate in general in sports.  But we can appreciate the adults not caring about what the kids do in the basement while they are watching the game. Boy did we have fun!
Party On!
