Mamma and Daddy

I am beginning to learn how to speak Adult.  I'm not a fully talking baby yet but I'll get there.

I do have two very distinct words though.

When I am well fed and rested I yell "Daddy"!  This indicates that I am ready for some rambunctious play time.

Of course it isn't long before I'm tired and hungry and in need of comfort like the time today I banged my chin on the ottoman.  When this happens it is time to call out for "Mamma"!

Yeah I know.  I may not be talking yet but I'm kind of getting the fundamentals.  Kind of like hitting a ball against the wall with a tennis racket.

Ownership

Everything used to be really simple for me.  First, I wasn't really moving much so I kind of just took what Mommy and Daddy gave to me.  They of course could take it away just as easy as they gave it to me.

Yet, with my new mobility I am getting my hands on all sorts of new things . . . and I want to keep them.

There are so many exciting things to get my hands on and not let go of!
And not just my Weedle and my Mini-Pumpkin.  I fought Daddy over a Cell Phone, the Remote and a Diaper tonight.  Eventually, he would be able to get them away from me but not without a lot of yelling and crying from me.

This country was built on the idea of protecting your private property.  I was just standing up for my rights as an American Baby!

Hey, I'm not saying I am going to keep them forever BUT I will return them on my terms Daddy.

My Almost Birthday

Today really brings me back.  A year ago after hearing about all the fun things Mommy was getting at her Baby Shower I decided to try and come early.  All the ladies at the Shower the day before talking about the new clothes and toys I was going to get was just way too tempting for me.  I wanted to make it out in time for an extra Halloween also.

I mean, being present at a party in my honor that I couldn't really participate in except for kicking was just too frustrating for me.  I wanted out!

Well, they kept me in for two more weeks with some drugs and what the Doctor said was a miracle but it was worth a try.  I still got out in time for Halloween! I consider today to be my true Birthday.

They haven't been able to hold me back since.

The First Day of Baby School

The day started out with a little bit of drama.  I was practicing balancing on the ottoman when I tripped and fell on my face.  I didn't hold back crying at all as my little mouth quivered.  Mommy comforted me with some nursing which was briefly interrupted with my wailing.

A tiring way to start but I went to a "Baby Class" with Lulu after that.  Phew, after that and a morning of crying I was way tuckered out by the end of the day.

I still wrestled with Daddy during bedtime just to show I could though.  I had to show some of the moves I had learned today.

I Love My New Ride . . . But I'm Not Sure About Those Eyes!

I got a new Car this weekend from Lulu and Papo.  Nothing like getting a new car for myself every six months.  I totally intend to keep this precedent into adulthood.  Nothing like a trade-in!

I enjoyed it but . . . I could have done without those eyes looking at me!
I even had Weedle drive first to make sure this "Living Car" was safe and no threat.
I'm not saying that an anthropomorphic car can't be safe and nice, just verify first.

Standing Up To Daddy!

Even as a Baby it is important not to be a doormat.  I realize that if I give Daddy an inch he will take a mile so tonight I set some boundaries.

Daddy decided to tease me with a Coke bottle.  I would try and grab it and he would pull it away.  Kind of a bully!
I mean it was fun for awhile but I wanted to play with it.  I put in a lot of effort but he kept pulling it from me!
And when he finally let me drink from it I didn't get to try Coke for the first time.  The bottle was sealed and he had me drinking from the bottom!
Well, if Daddy was going to jerk me around like that I'll get back at him.  I crawled out onto the carpet and grabbed some lint and shoved it in my mouth and started chewing.  Daddy really hates when I do this!  We went through a big deal of him getting the lint out of my mouth.  Not a very pleasant experience for me, but if Daddy wants to yank my chain, I'll yank his!

Hope you enjoyed one of the first of many of our power struggles Daddy!

A Satisfying Crunch, But That Was About it

Mommy and Daddy went to Subway for dinner tonight.  I can't say it really benefited me that much but Daddy did let me have a few tastes of turkey from his Sub.

BUT then Mommy finished her Doritos and gave ME the bag. Whew!  That bag can really Snap, Crackle and Pop when you crumple it.  I crumpled it a lot!

Apparently eating Doritos is almost a right of passage for little boys.  Unfortunately, like beer I'm only allowed to play with the container. : (

Being a Baby is getting old fast!  I can't wait to hit the big 0-1.

Denied Service!

We went to visit Papo and Lulu tonight.  Another great trip especially because I'm almost constantly the center of attention.

So if I am so popular, why don't you all let me have the benefits of a dinner party.

Papo just would not let me try out his Scotch!  I just wanted a sip!
Eventually I just charged in like a rowdy bar patron but Papo was quite the Bouncer.
He basically 86ed me.

Instead of simply denying me, Papo should be teaching me responsible drinking.  I won't just be on the milk forever.

Waking Up On The Wrong Side Of The Crib!

I don't know what it was tonight but I was a crank.  What's the adult word, "Moody" I think.
Even playing with Daddy's keys didn't really cheer me up.  HEY!  I can't be a happy baby everyday.  You'd be a little grumpy if you were constantly falling on your butt when you tried to walk AND had a bunch of teeth coming in AND uncontrollable hair.

Grrrr!

Missing Daddy! (But I Know The City Needs Him)

Daddy was out late tonight doing his Insurance thing.  I did miss him so when he finally got home Wow!  I was right out to celebrate his return.

This whole "Insurance" thing that Daddy does is kind of a mystery.  I've been to Mommy's work where she prosecutes criminals but Daddy is still an unknown.  All I know is that his job involves protecting people and he works in a very tall building downtown.  It makes perfect sense because he would need the view to see crimes happening in Seattle.

He must be a Superhero.

I Just Want Mommy Tonight!

Yeah, yeah I know I was at the Grandparents today and was spoiled rotten.  I know Daddy tried to bond with me by taking me out to get teriyaki which was parceled out sparingly over dinner.  Doesn't matter though.  I just was in the mood to be with Mommy.  Hands Down!
What can I say.  I know there is a big exciting world out there but I am still just a baby.  Sometimes I just need to be close to where I came from.
I'm not going to grow-up too fast.

Mail Baby

Mommy had some very important letters to send today so we went to the Post Office.  Very exciting since before I just see mail being delivered.

It was very fun because Mommy let me sit on the counter and stamp the envelopes.

God I wanna be a Mailman.  I see them around my neighborhood and they are always very nice to us.
I babbled to Mommy about possibly looking into the profession when I grow-up.  She said that would be fine but perhaps I should look into other "Growth" industries.

Perhaps . . . A Newspaper Reporter?
A Video Store Clerk?
Maybe a Buggy Carriage Driver?
Mommy I don't understand you but I didn't appreciate the sarcastic tone!

I mean with no Mailmen we'd have to go back to using Storks to deliver babies.

Mastering The Power Of The Remote Control!

I always kind of wondered how this thing worked.  It seemed like there was a lot of hidden power in it.  The way it can make images on the TV change is fascinating.  With one click of the button it's like a whole new world can be created.  I love it.

Especially because I finally figured out how to use it!
Really, with this type of power at my fingertips why bother even leaving the couch!  I can just sit back and let the years fly by!
Daddy made some joke that I would actually turn into a potato but I don't believe him. : )

Tickling Mommy!

Daddy found my ticklish spots.  They are underneath my belly button as well as on the bottom of my feet.  Daddy and I had so much fun tickling that I decided to return the favor.  He didn't respond very well so I tried Mommy.
Great response. She laughed and laughed and laughed.  It was great.
I have great technique.  This is definitely a skill I intend to refine.

I am a tickling machine.

Going Downtown!

I had a great play date with Ben today.  Very exciting, especially because there was lots of swinging involved.  But that was only the beginning of the excitement . . .

Daddy left his Debit Card in the ATM so we had to go DOWNTOWN!

So many people moving around, so many loud noises, oh my!  I didn't know the world moved so past.  It was so intense I slept all the way home.

It sure made for good dreams, until the giant Pink Elephant showed up!

I Love Chica!!!!

Mommy and Daddy have been trying to encourage me to walk more.  Well, just turn on some DVR clips of the Sunny Side Up Show with Chica and I'll stand-up all night!  God I Love The Sprout Network!

There is nothing like a cheeping Chicken to keep me so riveted that I forget that I'm actually standing.

No trouble keeping myself standing when that Chick is talking!
Today, Al Roker talked to Chica about growing-up to be a "Weather Chicken".  Imagine, to be on The Today Show and be in the presence of . . . Chica!  Al Roker obviously couldn't contain his excitement to be around such greatness.  Al, just be glad Chica is still just a Chick!  Otherwise guess who would be doing the weather.

I'm talking to Daddy about taking the steps to officially become a "Sproutlet" so we could see Chica in person!

I Only Want What I Can't Have

Honestly I feel like Adam in the Garden of Eden.  I live in a world where all my needs are met.  Lots of great food, a great bed, new clothes all the time and two parents at my beckon call.

But honestly none of that really matters to me.  I only really would be satisfied by what I am denied.

It didn't help that I had my third tooth coming in either.

Among other things.  Mommy's Shoes, Boiling Soup and the Remote Control were all denied to me tonight.  Not without protest but I'm sure Adam and Eve complained to God about not having access to the Apples.

I sure hope Mommy and Daddy don't try and play God by casting me out of the House!

I'm Still Going To Push Boundaries!

Me? A College Man?

The Family went to Delfino's Pizza tonight.  Normally I don't mind going out for Pizza since I get to taste it via Mommy's milk but I was in for an unpleasant surprise.

It was some sort of "Seminar" where they talked about ways to pay for College.  There were no other Babies and I could have cared less about a GET or a 529 Plan.

I guess I could kind of imagine myself at College someday.

Doesn't really sound that much different than my life today.  You get to pull All-Nighters and drink a lot of "Milk".

I can't wait to be the Big Man on Campus!

I Don't Trust The Gecko!

Sometimes even if someone is very polite, they don't have the best of intentions.  Granted, the Geico Gecko on TV today had a soothing voice . . . but what was his real plan for me?

It doesn't help that he resembles one of those Dinosaurs I saw at the Zoo.  As with Strangers, no matter how nice they may appear sometimes it's best if you just scream and run to Mommy.  Ask questions later.

Never Forget

Ten years ago, far before I was around, some very evil people did a horrible thing.  Unfortunately, even as a Baby I'm learning that there are people in the world who are bad.

However, I've also learned that even though that day started out tragically, by the end it had also brought out the best in America.  As a Baby I am learning that life has great tragedies and triumphs.

Thank you all Soldiers, Police, Firefighters and Emergency Responders for being around to keep the world safe for little Babies like me to grow-up!

I am sorry that there were Babies who didn't have their parents come home that day.

Never Forget.
